Help readers know who wrote your post with an author profile

Readers comparing products or learning how to care for an item may want to know who is giving the advice. An author profile helps explain the writer’s role and relevant experience.

Smart Agent Blog lets you register authors and choose where their profiles appear through the theme. Start with a clear connection to the article rather than an impressive-sounding biography.

Explain the experience behind the article

Readers do not need a complete career history. They need context: does the writer develop the product, test samples or answer care questions in the store? Describe real responsibilities in concrete language.

A fictional example is: “I work on storage product development, checking prototypes and sharing practical advice about dimensions and organization.” Replace the example with facts about your own team. Include qualifications, years of experience and achievements only when you can verify them. AI can help edit a biography but should not invent credentials.

Prepare the information

FieldWhat to decide
NameA public name that does not duplicate another author
RoleResponsibilities relevant to the article
DescriptionTopics covered and relevant experience
ImageA photograph or image approved for publication
LinksCorrect profile or store destinations

Choose an individual or editorial-team identity according to your store’s policy. A team profile can still explain who checks the information and what the team works on. Avoid implying a personal test was performed if the article was only assembled from specifications.

Register and assign the author

  1. Open author management in Smart Agent Blog settings.
  2. Create an author, enter the name and relevant details, and save.
  3. Select the author in the article editor.
  4. Save the article.

Registration and storefront display are separate. If the profile does not appear, open the Smart Agent Blog article section in Shopify’s theme editor. Choose a display location: hidden, sidebar, below the article or above the article. Save the theme setting and check the actual page.

Handle additional languages consistently

Author names, roles and descriptions can be translated through Shopify Translate & Adapt. Manage translations for the same author rather than creating a different author for every language. The author translation guide explains the workflow. Review translated names and job titles before publishing them.

Keep the profile current

Update descriptions when responsibilities change. A profile is context for readers, not a promise of higher search rankings. The accuracy of the article still matters. Start with one important post and check that the assigned author, displayed profile and current responsibilities agree.

An author profile is one part of a blog readers trust; see Shopify blog best practices for the rest.
