Use AI Rewrite
AI Rewrite can propose changes to the title, body, and SEO description of an existing article.
AI Rewrite is a paid-plan feature. On the free plan the settings page shows a notice and settings cannot be saved. See Plans and usage limits.
Open the settings page
Open Settings → AI Rewrite and select Enable AI rewrite schedule. Monthly rewrite usage is shown at the top of the page.
Choose improvement strategies
Under Rewrite Strategies, enable only the goals you need:
| Strategy | Articles it targets |
|---|---|
| CTR Improvement | Shown in search results but rarely clicked (requires Google Search Console) |
| Engagement Improvement | Opened, but readers stop partway through |
| Freshness Update | Not updated for a long time, or losing traffic |
| Conversion Improvement | Read often, but rarely leading to product views or purchases |
Each enabled strategy exposes thresholds (CTR, bounce rate, minimum page views, months since the last update, and so on). Keep the defaults until you have a reason to change them, and start with a single strategy so the result is easier to evaluate.
Choose the target and publishing mode
Under Publishing & Schedule, choose the target blog and the publish mode:
| Publish mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| Approval required (Recommended) | Compare before and after, then decide change by change |
| Automatically publish rewritten content | Apply the rewrite to the article without review |
With Approval required, the original article stays unchanged until you apply the changes.
Set the schedule
Set the day, time, and time zone (JST or UTC) for each schedule. Each schedule runs once a week. Depending on your plan, Add schedule lets you add more; a message appears when you reach the limit.
Check the AI and notification settings
Choose OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Anthropic (Claude Code), then set Max articles per run. You cannot exceed your plan limit. Select Email me when rewrites finish and enter an address to receive completion and pending-approval messages.
Save the settings
Select Save settings in the top right. Run rewrite now uses the saved settings, so save before using it.
Review pending changes
Open a pending rewrite from Pending Approvals on the AI Rewrite settings page, from the AI Rewrite tab on the Smart Agent Blog home screen, or from the link in the notification email.
The approval page starts with an Editing summary describing what the AI aimed to change, followed by three sections: Title, Body, and SEO Description. Each shows the content Before, After, and the Change intent. The body is grouped by change, and unchanged lines are folded away — select Show unchanged lines to see the surrounding text.
Each change has two buttons:
Decide change by change
- Accept change — replace that part with the rewritten version
- Keep original — leave that part as it is
Use Accept all body changes or Keep the original body to decide the whole body at once.
A change with neither button selected counts as Unreviewed and is not applied — the original content stays. The summary bar at the bottom of the page shows how many changes are accepted, kept, and unreviewed. Check it before you apply.
Apply changes to the article
Then choose one of the following:
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Apply selected content | Applies only the changes you accepted |
| Accept all and apply | Accepts every change and applies it |
| Reject all | Applies nothing and leaves the article unchanged |
Apply selected content stays disabled until you have reviewed at least one change.
Applying writes only the accepted parts to the article. The article keeps its current visibility, except when the publish mode is Automatically publish rewritten content, which makes it visible. Once a rewrite is applied or rejected, reopening it shows a read-only view of the decisions that were made.
Keep a copy of the original elsewhere if you may need to restore it.
If “The original article has newer changes” appears
If the article was edited after the proposal was generated, a confirmation appears before anything is applied.
- Overwrite and apply overwrites the accepted sections with the rewrite.
- Select Cancel if you want to keep the manual edits and review the proposal again.
If you accept even one change in the body, the entire body is rebuilt from the article as it was when the proposal was generated. Passages you did not accept are restored to that same snapshot.
So any text you wrote or corrected in the body after the proposal was generated is not kept. This confirmation screen exists to warn you about exactly that situation.
The title and the SEO description are evaluated per field, so if you do not accept them they keep their current content. Only the body behaves this way.
Rewrite from the article editor
On supported plans, a saved article's editor shows a Rewrite action for improving a single article. The dialog lets you:
- Review the article's current metrics — 30-day page views, average view time, completion rate, bounce rate, plus Google Search Console clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position
- Describe the direction you want under What would you like to improve?, or select Let AI suggest direction to have the AI propose one from the current data
- Open Customize Advanced Settings to change the strategy, AI provider, and publish mode for this run only, without touching the saved defaults
Select Execute Rewrite to start. The result appears as a pending approval, exactly like a scheduled run.
Run statuses
The Execution Logs section records one row per run.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Processing | The AI is working |
| Pending Approval | Waiting for your review |
| Success | The changes were applied to the article |
| Skipped | Nothing was processed — no articles in the blog, or none matched the criteria |
| Failed | An error occurred |
| Rejected | The proposal was not applied |
The approval page also shows the status of that rewrite itself: Pending Approval, Fully applied, Partially applied, Auto-applied, Apply failed, or Rejected.
See AI is not working if processing fails.
