Register an author
An author must be selected before an article can be saved.
Create an author
- Open Settings in Smart Agent Blog.
- Open Authors.
- Select Create Author.
- Enter the name.
- Add the photo, job title, description, social links, and tags if needed.
- Select Save.
Create New Author in the article editor opens the same form in a new tab.
Fields
The form starts with an image field for the author photo, followed by:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name (required) | Used to link the profile to articles — keep it unique |
| Job Title | For example, Product Development |
| Description | A short summary of the person's experience |
| URL of the Facebook page | |
| X (Twitter) | URL of the X profile |
| URL of the Instagram profile | |
| Bio Link | Any other profile page |
| Tags | For example, product development, care |
Only the name is required. Use a clear, roughly square photo. Names link profiles to articles, so do not give two authors the same name.
Assign an author to an article
Open the article editor, select the registered profile under Author, and save the article.
Review and edit authors
Settings → Authors lists every profile with the date it was last updated. Select a row to edit it; the edit screen shows a preview of how the profile appears on the storefront.
If the author is not visible on the store
Whether the author appears is decided in the Shopify theme editor:
- Open the blog post template in the theme editor.
- Select the Smart Agent Blog article section.
- Set Select Author Display Method.
- Save in the theme editor.
The options are Hidden, Show as Sidebar, Show below Article, and Show above Article. If an article has an author but nothing appears on the storefront, check this setting first. See Show articles on your store.
What appears on the store
When shown, the profile displays the photo, job title and name, tags, icons for the social and bio links, and the description. Empty fields are omitted.
To show different author names, job titles, and descriptions for each storefront language, see Show authors in multiple languages.
Registering an author helps readers understand who wrote the article, but does not guarantee a higher search ranking.
Delete an author
Open the author's edit screen, select Delete Author, and confirm.
Deleted profiles cannot be restored, and articles that used the author lose the profile block (photo, description, and links) on the storefront. Move affected articles to another author first.
