Preview and publish an article
Save an article as Hidden first, inspect it, and make it Visible only when it is ready.
Search result settings
The Search engine listing card below the article body previews how the article can appear in search results, and updates as you type.
SEO Title
Enter a title that communicates the content in search results. It may match the article title. If left empty, the article title is used.
SEO Description
Summarize in one or two sentences who the article is for and what it explains. The preview shows the first 150 characters.
URL Handle
This is the final part of the article URL. The full URL appears below the field. Keep the generated handle unless you have a specific reason to change it; changing it after publication can break the old URL.
Avoid changing the handle after the article URL has been shared.
Save as hidden
Choose Hidden in the Visible / Hidden card on the right, then save. Confirm that the article list shows Hidden.
Preview
Select Preview at the top of the editor, choose a theme — the published theme or any unpublished one — and confirm. The article opens in the Shopify theme editor in a new tab.
Preview only appears once the article has been saved. A hidden article cannot be opened from the normal storefront URL; use this preview instead.
Check the title, images, product facts and links, author, spelling, and mobile layout.
Pre-publication checklist
- Product names, prices, materials, and sizes are correct
- Links open the intended pages
- Images are clear and do not overflow
- The article is readable on a phone
- The correct author is selected
- There are no typos or unnatural sentences
- A person reviewed any AI-generated text
Publish
Return to the editor, choose Visible, and save. Confirm that the article list shows Visible, then open the storefront article with the view icon.
Saving applies the change to the Shopify blog post immediately. Always open the storefront article to confirm the real appearance.
Unpublish an article
To hide an article without deleting it, choose Hidden and save again. Confirm that it is no longer visible on the store. The article is kept, so you can make it visible later in the same way.
Published date for an immediate change
Changing an article from Hidden to Visible records the moment you save as its published date. Editing an article that is already visible does not change the date. Setting it back to Hidden clears the date, and making it visible again records a new one.
Schedule publication and unpublication
Choose Schedule in the Visible / Hidden card to publish or hide an article at specified future times.
- Choose Schedule.
- Under Set current status, choose whether the article should be Visible or Hidden immediately after saving.
- Select Publish date or Unpublish date, then set the date and time.
- Save the article.
You can set only one of the dates. Set both when the article should be visible for a limited period.
- If the current status is Hidden, put the publish date before the unpublish date.
- If the current status is Visible, put the unpublish date first and a later publish date if the article should become visible again.
- Every scheduled time must be in the future.
To remove one scheduled time, select the × beside it and save. To stop scheduling and change the status immediately, choose Visible or Hidden and save.
After the scheduled time passes, confirm the status in the article list and open the storefront article to make sure it changed as intended.
