Five title patterns for your ecommerce blog

When a post is finished but its title is not, start with the reader and the question instead of a dramatic phrase. A title makes a promise about the article. Choose one the body can actually fulfill.

These five patterns provide starting points for ecommerce posts, followed by a practical editing check in Smart Agent Blog.

Five patterns to adapt

The examples below describe fictional product articles. Match every number and condition to your own content.

PatternExampleBest suited to
Answer a questionWhat size commuter bag do you need? Start with what you carryBuying questions
Explain a procedureHow to care for a fabric bag: checks before washingCare and use
Compare alternativesShoulder bag or backpack: which suits your commute?Product choices
Specify the readerChoosing a bag for carrying A4 documentsA particular need
Offer checksFive things to check before choosing a giftChecklists

If the title promises five checks, provide five meaningful checks. Do not split one point merely to reach the number. A comparison also needs useful information about both alternatives, not just praise for the item you prefer to sell.

Narrow the reader and the answer

“Discover our amazing bags” says little about the decision. “What to check when choosing a bag for a rainy commute” identifies a situation. But “keeps everything dry” would promise a performance result that needs evidence.

Product names are useful when readers already know the range. A new visitor may need the use case or selection criterion first. Decide which reader the post serves rather than trying to address everyone in one title.

03 Match the bodyKeep the promise

Compare three candidates against the body

Write a question version, a reader-specific version and a checklist version. This is an editorial exercise, not a claim that the app runs simultaneous title tests.

Check whether the opening starts answering the question, whether important limits remain visible, and whether the title is distinct from your other posts. Remove unsupported words such as “guaranteed” or “best.” Read the conclusion as well before choosing the candidate that fits the whole article.

Check the display in Smart Agent Blog

Enter the article title, then review the search engine listing section below the body. You can set a separate SEO title, but it should describe the same subject. Save and preview the article in your theme to check wrapping and visibility.

Do not judge only by clicks

A more striking title may attract visits without satisfying readers. Review search clicks separately from behavior inside the article. Start with one existing post and make its intended reader and answer easier to recognize. For where titling fits into the whole process, see how to write a Shopify blog post.
