Article cannot be saved or displayed

Start from the message you saw and the step where you got stuck. You do not need to work through every section.

Save does not go through

An empty required field shows a message next to it and the save never starts.

Nothing is saved automatically

Edits are never saved for you. Closing the tab or leaving the screen before you save discards them. Save often while writing a long article.

The data size is too large

The whole submission — body text plus images — is too big.

  • A thumbnail image must be 4 MB or less. A larger file is refused the moment you choose it, with the message that the thumbnail exceeds 4 MB.
  • The whole submission must stay under roughly 5.5 MB. Above that, the save is refused with a message about the data size.

Keep a copy of the original image, reduce its dimensions, save it as JPEG or WebP, replace the image, and try once more. Large images pasted into the body count toward the same limit.

The article limit is shown

The Free plan allows 10 articles through Smart Agent Blog. From the eleventh, no new article can be created.

  • Only articles created or saved in Smart Agent Blog are counted. Articles created and edited solely in the Shopify admin are not.
  • The count reflects articles that still exist, so deleting one frees a slot. Deleting cannot be undone — check carefully under Content → Blog posts in Shopify admin first.
  • Development stores are subject to the same 10-article limit.

The limit applies only when creating a new article. Existing articles can still be edited and saved, and nothing is deleted or hidden automatically. See Plans and usage limits.

Preview does not open

Save first, select a destination blog, allow the new browser tab, and choose a theme if requested. A Hidden article opens through a theme preview rather than the normal store URL.

A published article is not on the store

  1. Confirm the article shows Visible in the article list.
  2. Open the article from its view icon.
  3. Open the published theme in the Shopify theme editor.
  4. Confirm the blog post template contains Smart Agent Blog.
  5. Confirm you saved in the theme editor.
  6. Reload the browser.

See Display articles on your store.

The body appears twice

Both the Smart Agent Blog section and the theme's own article-body section are rendering. Open the blog post template and check for a duplicate. Hide the original section first rather than deleting it, so you can confirm the result.

The author is missing

Select an author on the article and save, enable the author profile, enable the author display in the Smart Agent Blog section, and confirm you edited the published theme.

Articles never saved in the app

The link between an article and its author profile is written into the article when Smart Agent Blog saves it. Articles published before you started using Smart Agent Blog do not carry that link, so no author profile appears even when an author is set. Open the article in Smart Agent Blog, select an author, and save it again.

Estimated reading time is missing

Reading time is calculated from the body text each time Smart Agent Blog saves the article.

  • An article that has never been saved in Smart Agent Blog has no reading time. Open it and save it again.
  • Confirm Show estimated reading time on storefront is enabled under Settings → General Settings. See Change general settings.
  • Where it appears depends on the theme.

Tags disappeared

Tags lost by an earlier save are not restored automatically. Open the article, re-enter the required tags, and save it again.

An article is missing from the list

  1. Clear the search box.
  2. Select the All tab. The tabs are All, Visible, Hidden, and AI-generated.
  3. Remove any applied filters — Status, Tags, Blog, Author, AI-generated.
  4. Check the next page.
  5. Confirm the article exists under Content → Blog posts in Shopify admin.

The Tags and Author filters need the full name, not part of it. See Find and open articles.
